Today, we had a "good" one! The guy was very keep for us to upgrade to diesel car at £5/day or an extra £100 for our trip! As it would save us so much money because the car uses less fuel... I left this decision to Peter and he decided not to take him up on the offer! The guy went to get the car and lo and behold the car is a diesel Astra!!!!! I keep laughing about the ridiculousness of it all, and how we actually won that round!!!!!
So, we drove back to our hotel, picked up our luggage and started the drive out of London....
The charming GPS lady is a tad tardy in her instructions here in the UK, so we had a slightly detoured trip through Kensington, which we shall have to go and have a look at next time(?) we are in London.n eventually we ended up on the motorway and headed south towards our first stop at Hastings. I was wanting to visit Sissinghurst Castle which was bought by Vita Sackville-West and her husband who restored the property and gardens. They are delightful, even in the rain. There are walled gardens, a small moat and an orchard, and you can climb the tower and have a look at the library.
It is now owned by the National Trust.
We then travelled on to Hastings to our accommodation at the Hotel Zanzibar. It has themed rooms and we are in Morocco! The furnishings are lovely, and we have a day bed for sitting on and a loft bed to sleep on.
We decided to have dinner here and had another delicious meal... The entree was Hastings crab rolls with mango salsa and sorrel oil - the mango salsa was particularly delicious, and then I had the chicken with a lovely sauce of Kailua and mushrooms.
We've decided to eat well!!!! Too well!!!!

Loved Sissinghurst and all around the Kent area.
